New Quilt

It has been a while since I have blogged. I am working on a new baby quilt for a friend and working on some of my UFO's that I promised myself that I would finish this year. Pictures of the new quilt will be posted in my upcoming posts.

Love of Lavender

I bought some dried Lavender. It smells so good and relaxes the senses. I am making Lavender sachets for my closet, dresser drawers and my pillow cases. I plan on making a few more for friends and relatives. I love the smell of fresh and dried herbs. Quilting calms the senses too. Time to make a pink and white baby quilt for a friend and a purple friendship star for a friend that I promised two months ago. Work gets in the way of quilting, but I have 2 days

2 Days off to Quilt

Finally two days off. Wish I had the money to go to the Reno quilt show, but no such luck. I have to stay home and work on some of my unfinished quilts (UFOs). Not to bad. Maybe next weekend, there will be a quilt show that I can afford to go to. Keep searching. Drop me a comment, if you know of a quilt show in California next weekend. The picture is one that I made for my friend's mother with breast cancer.

No time for quilts

I admit that I have not had a lot of time to quilt as I have been working a lot of hours at my night job. Quilting is my passion, but this year I have not had a lot of time to make any. The baby quilt for my grandson and the quilt for my friend's mother who has breast cancer, those are the ones I have completed. The quilt show in Sisters Oregon is this weekend, but I could not get the time off. Maybe next year as the Sisters quilt show is one of the best. The picture is one of the quilts from last years show that is one of my favorites

New Grandma

I am a new grandma. My grandson was born June 3. 8 lbs 11 oz. I completed his baby quilt the day he came home from the hospital. This will not be the only quilt he will receive. His great g-ma made him a quilt as well. Lucky kid.

Hi again

Well I am back again. Finished a quilt for my friend. Her mom has breast cancer and I wanted to make her mom a quilt that everyone can sign and send their love while she is doing chemotherapy. We need to find cures for that ugly disease called cancer. I finished a baby quilt for a friend and I am working on the quilt for my grandbaby. Mom and baby are getting bigger. Baby is almost ready. So here is a shout out to all the quilters that are making quilts for their friends, family and acquaintances that need the comfort of a quilter's heart.

Yuba Sutter Quilt Show

The Valley Quilt Guilds quilt show in Yuba CIty was very nice. There were a lot of wonderful quilts on display. The vendors had a lot of fabric choices, a lot of patterns, books and samples to stimulate those creative choices. I bought chicken fabric and patterns to make some creative things for the people in my life. I have reacquainted myself with old friends and took pictures of some wonderful quilts. Lets start quilting.

A Quilters Weekend

Well the weekend is here. Time to get ready for a new quilt show. The camera is charged, I have a new 2 Gig card and a spare battery. The walking shoes have comfortable insoles. The shopping bag is set by the door. Ready to be carried away tomorrow morning, to stand in line with the other quilters eager to see the new quilts that were made by innovative and creative quilters. This routine is the weekend getaway that many quilters look forward to each weekend. To search the vendor booths to look at the new fabric lines, the new tools of our craft to help us create a new and innovative quilt that we will be willing to show to our family, friends and to the world.

Another day

Well it is getting warmer. Time to get started quilting again. My youngest son told me some great news and now I have a new grandbaby on the way. My daughter is getting married in October and I have some UFOs that need to be completed. Time to think about what patterns I want to make. Maybe turtles or a lucky star for the grandbaby. I need something for my daughter, but I am not sure what. It must be in jewel tones as she favors those. I have to finish the red and black quilt that I tried to make as a wedding present for my oldest son and new daughter-in-law. I have a baby blanket for my friend and a house warming gift to finish. So much to do, so little time. There is a quilt show in Yuba City this weekend,March 22,at the Yuba City fairgrounds, maybe that will get me motivated.

Welcome Quilters

I love to quilt. I love going to quilt shows and seeing all the new quilts that are made. In between work and family, I try to make a few myself. I am interested in new ideas that will make quilting easier and new gadgets that will help make my quilts better.
